About PDF Page Numbers

Long reports, scanned bundles and merged files often arrive without page numbers, which makes them hard to reference in a meeting. This tool adds a plain number at the bottom center of every page, starting from any value between 1 and 10,000, and counting up by one per page. The number is drawn in small grey Helvetica, at most 11 points and scaled down slightly on very small pages, a short distance above the bottom edge. Placement follows each page's visible area and existing rotation, so rotated pages still get the number at their visual bottom. Starting at a higher number is useful when the PDF is a chapter or appendix that continues a larger document: enter 15 and the first page shows 15. The numbering is simple by design. It prints digits only, with no Page X of Y text, no Roman numerals, no choice of corner, font or size, and no option to skip a cover page. If you need a cover left unnumbered, split it off, number the rest, and merge them back. The PDF must be unencrypted, up to 30 MB and 500 pages. Digitally signed files can lose signature validity when modified.

Yes. Set Starting page number to any whole number from 1 to 10,000. The first page gets that number and each following page increases by one, which suits chapters or appendices that continue another document.

Not directly, since every page is numbered. Split the cover off with the split tool, number the remaining pages, then merge the cover back in front. Remember the numbers will then begin on the second page.
